Richard Games
Richard is a senior project finance professional with more than 30 years of international experience spanning financial advisory, debt arranging, equity investment, fund management, and project leadership. He has worked extensively across the energy, infrastructure, mining, and renewable sectors, partnering with public and private sector organisations, development finance institutions (DFIs), export credit agencies (ECAs), and multilateral institutions.
Over the course of his career, Richard has successfully delivered transactions exceeding US$30 billion in value, including numerous landmark projects recognised with industry awards. Before joining Portland, he founded and led Project Capital Limited, a specialist project finance advisory firm, for more than a decade, advising project developers, investors, fund managers, multilateral organisations, and governments in both developed and emerging markets.
Richard has also held several senior leadership positions, including Chief Executive Officer of ING’s European Infrastructure and Energy Fund, Head of Infrastructure at WestLB, and began his career in project finance at Barclays Capital. He holds a BSocSc (Hons) in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, a Member of the Association for Project Management, and holds investment management qualifications from the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute.
